Yup, it's still the same!
Last night we four Zs got to go to a little league baseball game and cheer on our neighbor's team, the Giants. It was more or less a "12 and under" game, although I guess they don't call it that up here. (What's more, our neighbor was "drafted" into the "major leagues" this year- from the minors last year. This concept was new to me. He was drafted? The kid's only 11!!)
Alas, the rest of the game was strangely familiar. It made me realize how much I used to enjoy watching my brother's games growing up.
If you haven't been to a little league game in awhile, you'll be happy to know that...
1. It's still possible for three runs to score in the top of the first inning without actually recording a hit (or an out).
2. There's still that one kid who's pretty good, and he knows it. You can tell by looking at him that he's confused as to why he hasn't been scouted yet.
3. There's still the mom whose kid is the pitcher. She is still silent, hunkered down in her chair, white knuckled, and tense...very tense.
4. There's still the mom that nudges the dad, worrying that she had just cheered for their son in the exact (embarrassing) way that she had been instructed not to.
5. (Mercifully) there's still the ten-run rule.
You'll also be happy to hear that the Giants won the game, 15-2.
------
81. Cool evening breezes.
82. The moment when a child discovers cotton candy.
83. Friendly strangers who fall in love with your kids.
84. Lazy mornings.
85. Sleeping in, even just for a little bit.
86. Finding something lost.
87. The comfort of routines.
88. Clean, curly toddler hair.
89. Watching other peoples' kids grow up and succeed.
90. Vacation.
