Learning something new.

Free-motion quilting:

Kind of like doodling all over your quilt.

Not following an exact pattern on your fabric.

GULP.

It's an effect that I think is beautiful, but it's also one that I've been terrified to try. 

But you've got to start somewhere, right?

Meh.  Not great, but maybe a spark or two of potential.  Maybe.

I don't know if it encourages or discourages me that a few days after I tried this, one of my favorite quilting bloggers wrote that it had taken her three years to feel competent at free motion quilting.  Three years!?!

GULP.
