I am doing it.
I have registered to run the Scenic Byway Half Marathon in Belle Plaine on October 12, 2013.
YOU registered to run a half-marathon?! You do realize a half-marathon is 13.1 miles, right?
CANCER. It's a big, ugly word, and I have a too-long list of friends and family members who have been affected by cancer, and I WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO FIGHT.
So I've decided to run a half-marathon, and I am going to do it on behalf of the American Cancer Society's DetermiNation Mini Series. I chose to run a half-marathon because it's something that will be difficult. Even though it does not come close to how hard it is to fight cancer, I want to take this step, fight hard, and help support people who can really fight cancer.
I'm humbly asking you to support me in this. Please consider joining with me and donating money to the American Cancer Society so that we can help kick cancer. I have declared my program goal of raising $1000 (but my super-secret goal is $3000).
Here's a link to my personal fundraising site. I haven't figured out how to personalize it and jazz it up yet, but would you consider bookmarking it, taking time to think/pray about an amount to contribute, and then coming back later (I'll remind you...don't worry!) to make a donation as the race day approaches?
I haven't done anything like this before, but it's a cause that is so, so, so important to me. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
