We're not in Kansas anymore

This past weekend we Zs went down to Kansas City to visit Uncle Mark.  We had a really really really fabulous time.  The kids did well, and it was fun to hang out with Mark and have him show us his new turf.

We visited the National Frontier Trails Museum- the beginning of the Santa Fe and Oregon trails and such.  Super interesting!  We got to walk across some of the "swales" that are left from the wagons taking shortcuts to get to the trails.  They're kind of difficult to see, but you can see the darker horizontal lines across the field where Nate's standing...those are the swales.  :)

We also got to visit Union Station and explore one of the coolest science/children's museums I've seen.  Way cool stuff for big kids and little kids.  They even had a below-street sewer and sewer pipes for people to climb through.  (I say "people," because I think they're mostly for kids, but Nate may or may not have navigated them too.)  ;)

On the way home we asked Blake what his favorite part of the trip was.  "Playin' baseball with Uncle Mark!" was his response.  (On the campus of KU...yup- we played baseball there....not basketball!)

Kansas Speedway was along the interstate between our hotel and Lawrence, so we tried to visit...but they were closed.  At least I can say I saw it!
