Nate and I were talking (yes, yes, that can't be good...), and I think we agreed on something.

Sometimes parenthood is kind of like hitting your thumb over and over again with a hammer.  

It hurts and you want it to stop.  That's not all- keep going...

You(and by you, I mean "I") consider trying a different hammer/method of parenting so that you stop hurting your thumb, but most times you end up deciding against trying the new hammer for fear that the new hammer will end up hurting your thumb even more.  At least you're getting used to the old hammer and you know exactly how much it's going to hurt.  Granted, this new hammer could gradually (or instantly) fix the problem and take your pain away...but is it worth the risk?
